Resonance

It continues to amaze me how all healing; mind, body, and soul are connected. Because no matter what you believe in, they are all linked. It so interesting to see my life learnings reflected in the health coach training modules.

Twice in my life I decided to change everything each time I used affirmations and manifestation.
And whilst it wasn’t a flick of switch (although everything did manifest), however at first what it did was change my thinking. I started to believe my life could change, I started to believe that I was worthy/that I deserved to be happy and thriving. I started to believe I could live an incredible life, more things felt possible, I felt expansive and positive.

I now know this in the what we call in the health coaching world as “resonance”, a feeling of being alive and in harmony within yourself and with the world around you. Right time right place kind of feeling, that everything is beat to be – I kid you not this is me paraphrasing my Health Coach Book. The important part is that in a state of resonance, you can raise new awareness and momentum, you find the strength and power to overcome your obstacles, fear or pull you out of lethargy. It is a “neurobiological response”, a primary emotional state known as “Positive Emotional Attractors (PEA)” from PEA-NEA theory (Boyatzie et al, 2015).

OR in my favourite woo woo science world as raising your frequency of your vibrations to that of the universe or your higher self, which connects you to all that vibrates at that frequency – ie what everyone out there is telling you is the key to manifestation. So you don’t need a fancy manifestation course, you need to get your self into a place where you are thinking positive thoughts, ie a state of resonance, and you will naturally manifest good into your life.

IN PEA-NEA theory, these emotional states are linked to these different nervous system states – parasympathetic (rest and digest) or sympathetic (fight or flight). So in order to manifest your dreams you need to not be in a state of fight or flight, a very highly difficult thing to do in our current world. Arousing a PEA “is critical when creating or affirming a personal vision” and “almost all sustained desired change starts in the PEA”.

From the yogi perspective, it is in a state of resonance that we are able to tap into our intrinsic motivation and strength. Which also happens to be a character of the heart, the heart chakra, so when you are feeling positive, you feel gratitude and love, you are attracting abundance, this all comes from the heart. So its important that if you want to manifest your best life, your best health, your best you, you allow yourself to open up and feel, to love and be present with the richness and fulness of the world around you, to look in awe and appreciate every magical moment. Because in these moments you are telling the universe you got step 1, you are now ready to step 2 i.e. abundance, more good, more opportunity into your life. In my 200hr yoga teacher training my teacher referred to this as living in a meditative state which is the whole goal of the practice.

Circling back round to western medicine its important to note that this state requires you to be out of fight or flight, out of your sympathetic nervous system response where cortisol is high and adrenaline and other stress hormones are being made and circulating around the body. In this state your body is merely focused on survival, it is prioritising sending blood and oxygen to the parts of the body needed to either fight or run. So you must first come down. This again highlights the importance of nervous system regulation as a part of every day life.
